*That* Room

John and I have an extra room in our apartment. It's the room that everyone has.

The one I apologize for when we are showing guests around.

The one I tell people "We just haven't had the time to do anything with it".

The one I call the guest/storage/office/junk room.

The one I crack the door to, throw some odds and ends in, and shut the door without looking.

I always feel so sorry for this spare room.

This fall I am finally going to clean it up and make something of it.

We decided that the best thing for this space to become was an office.

I am so excited and so nervous. I really want this space to work. We are going to try to do this on little to no money. I can't wait to get started.

 my ideal color scheme

I've got a little wooden table desk that I'm going to pain teal.
Hopefully add some mirrors, a couple prints from Etsy.
And maybe a cute printed or white leather high backed chair.

So here's to my hopeful little office. I will keep you updated as things progress.

Thoughts? Ideas? Websites? Or if you would like to donate to the "Emily Wants an Office Fund" just send a check in the mail...just kidding

  1. I'd love to see how that room works out! What etsy prints are you getting?

  2. O wow, we have a closet like that and all month I have been telling myself that I must tame the beast! Looking forward to seeing how your office turns out!

  3. I saw your post on 20SB, and Had to come by. In 2010 we graduated one weekened, got married the next, honeymooned the next, moved to a new state the next weekend, and started work the next. I still had a semester left for student teaching, I was 21 when we got married. Now we have moved back to Indiana, I have a teaching job, and my hubby (john) has a new job he is just starting at!

As for "emily wants an office" I suggest it become a pinterest board! (Love getting craft ideas there since we still have no money!)

  4. Saw you over on 20sb... my ex and I went to a lot of flea markets and found ridiculously awesome things for pretty cheap that we spruced up with new paint, etc. We had our house decorated the way we liked it in no time! Could be a great option and a fun way to spend a weekend morning!

Good luck on your room transformation! :]
